We departed from Chile with memories of amazing adventures and breathtaking landscapes and views, and landed in Bariloche, a charming city, yet big and touristic. There are plenty things to do in Bariloche, and we did some of them. The 4 main things we did there:
  • Food: after not too many good meals lately, we found ourselves eating great entrecote steaks (or "Biffe de Chorizo"), ice cream ("Helados") and lots of chocolate. Jauja, Don Alberto and Mamushka are only a few of several places I can easily recommend eating in.
  • Views: Bariloche, aside from sitting in a magnificent region, becomes a ski resort in Winter, so there´s a mountain with a chairlift there that we used to view the area from above. Great view (once the clouds cleared).
  • The 7 Lakes: We rented a car and drove, this time only the two of us (intentionally, see next bullet) on a 360 kilometers road. The road provides amazing views, and we went several times off road to see the lakes. There are about 7 lakes on that road, all would have probably overwhelmed us, if we hadn´t just went through the Carretera Austral..
  • The proposal: I stopped the car in what seemed to be just the middle of the road. We walked a couple of feet away from the road, and there we saw one of the most astonishing views we have ever seen: above us clear blue skies, endless green around us, bordered by so many mountains and crossed by infinite rivers, with a green lake beneath us, unseen wildlife and above all, silence. I took the moment to ask the hand of my partner to this journey and to the journey called "life", the only woman I ever loved and ever will, Jenis. She shouted "yes", and the whole world trembled. After that moment, everything else looks different.
Most of our way back from the 7 lakes was in complete darkness on unpaved road in the middle of nowhere, but we were happy, and actually enjoyed the remoteness and wildness of this trip.
We took a bus to Buenos Aires and from there a flight to the Iguazu falls, only to discover that the most beautiful moment of this trip has just occurred.
